The Malankie Music.Com and Musicians Union of Malawi (MUM) have unveiled plans to allow musicians to get 60 percent shares from monthly revenue.

Managing Director of Malankie Music.Com Malankie John Gondwe is optimistic that the website will increase marketing and music sales as well as distribution and promotion of Malawi music.

Malankie said this on Monday when the two signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which among other things, agreed to allow Malawi artists to have 60 percent, 30 percent and ten percent shares for artists, Malankie Music.Com and MUM respectively.

‘’The profits are as follows; MUM will be getting ten percent, Malankie Music.Com 30 percent while the musician will be getting 60 percent. That’s our agreement,’’ he said.

 He has assured artists that the website has tight security which cannot be tampered with easily.

‘’Security is very tight because the software which we used is very strong. We put that in consideration when choosing service provider as such our websites is reliable,’’ he said.

MUM President Gloria Manong’a, says the Malankie Music.Com website will help a lot of musicians to be economically stable while promoting music industry in the country.

‘’The musicians will celebrate from this MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) because they will be buying food and other necessities from monies, they will get using this website after sales,’’ she said.

Manong’a says the website will accountable and transparent in all dealings to musicians through monthly reports which will be available in digital form on the platform.

The Malankie Music.Com website has been in existence for two months now and has potential to develop music industry in the country.
