About Zodiak Malawi
Zodiak Broadcasting Station is a privately owned radio station-also operating this website www.zodiakmalawi.com-with its headquarters in the Malawi capital, Lilongwe.
ZBS is owned by renowned broadcaster Gospel Kazako. It officially switched on in November 2005 on strong foundations of bias towards the underprivileged, especially the rural poor.
On November 1, 2010, ZBS turned five with evidence of growth in both size and output. Zodiak Broadcasting Station has 108 employees having taken off ground with a team of 17.
ZBS adopts a nonpartisan approach to broadcasting. It should not come as a surprise, therefore, that ZBS is probably Malawi’s Premier. Zodiak has had custody of all local electronic media top awards for four consecutive years. She also prides in a string of international media awards.
It has physical presence across the country with journalists currently in 14 of the 28 districts and 24 transmitting stations reaching virtually every nook and cranny of the country.
In 2009, Zodiak Broadcasting Station, with the blessings of the Malawi Electoral Commission, became the first private station to be granted the status OFFICIAL BROADCASTER of Presidential and Parliamentary elections which took place in Malawi.
The station boasts of a great fertilization of experiences with staff ranging between three and 35 years of broadcast experience.
Our editorial policy dictates us to be responsible and independent while tackling issues that affect the masses without fear of favour.
We broadcast to the nation from our state of the art transmission studio in Lilongwe in Artbridge House.
About 75 percent of our broadcasts are in Chichewa and we ensure that the manner in which we communicate should easily be identified with the majority of the illiterate Malawians.
The close to five years of our broadcasting has seen our audience growing. This is evident by the sharp increase in traffic of clients and business enquiries.
From 2009, ZBS launched Zodiak Online complete with live radio streaming which has largely helped Malawians in Diaspora and the rest of the world stay in touch with the nation of Malawi.
About a year old now, Zodiak Online has become a great source of local news to Malawians and non Malawians across the globe. The establishment of an online edition is in recognition of the fact that the world is increasingly becoming small, a village.
