The budget was passed with no amendments in a historic way as all 55 votes went through in a single day.

Parliament entered the committee of supply the same day where lawmakers took thorough scrutiny on the votes.

Finance minister, Felix Mlusu, says Malawians should now await implementation of recurrent and development estimates in the budget.

"Local Government Finance Committee gets over 300 billion because they look after all the councils and they have a lot of programmes that have to be done in line with the decentralization program". Said minister Mlusu.

The approved budget was revised from 1.990 to 1.995 trillion kwacha.
