This has been revealed at a stakeholders meeting for a five year Break Free Programme being implemented in Machinga and Lilongwe by a consortium of three-member organizations headed by Sexual Reproductive Health Rights Africa Trust (SAT) Malawi.
Break Free Programme Country Coordinator, Judith Pangani says they are targeting youths aged 10 to 24 with the programme.
"The project targets youths of the age bracket between 10 to 24, with an aim of empowering them to be able to engage the authorities on issues affecting their day to day life," noted Pangani.
Deputy Director for Children Affairs in the Ministry of Gender, Justin Hamela says his ministry is reviewing standards of operating procedures by Community Victim Support Units.
He adds by committing to support the establishment of Children's Parliament in Machinga.
"I'm impressed with the presentations and ads responsible ministry we are already in the process to review how the Community Victim Support Units operate," said Hamela.
"I think the youth of Machinga are really committed to address the issues around them and as the ministry we will support the introduction of a youth Parliament in this district," he added.
