Eagles Relief Responds to Ana

Eagles Relief Development Programme International says it is high time that government and development partners moved away from disaster response but rather focus on disaster risk reduction.

The organization’s Executive Director, Victor Mughogho said this in Balaka on Wednesday where it intends to spend MK63 Million to build resilience of 1,143 households in sub traditional Matola, Toleza, Amidu and Phimbi in the district.

“Eagles Relief a development arm of the Living Waters Church is looking at holistic transformation of a person that seek to build his/her resilience to disasters,” he said.

Eagles Relief Development Programme International has been engaged into several development projects in Balaka including women empowerment.

One of the beneficiaries Esnart Chijenje, said she is thankful to eagles relief for the assistance rendered, saying it will go a long way paying school fees and molding bricks to construct a new house.

Early this year, President Lazarus Chakwera declared Malawi a state of national disaster after Tropical Storm Ana hit most districts in the Southern Region causing massive damage to public infrastructures beside loss of lives and injuries owing to the disaster.
