Zigoma Needs K1.6 Million for Radiotherapy
ENTERTAINMENT: Musician Geoffrey Zigoma needs K1.6 million to access radiotherapy cancer treatment in South Africa.
According to Zigoma, doctors advised him to be in South Africa by March end this year.
This comes in the background of various fundraising campaigns by musicians that have courted controversy.
At the peak of his secular music composition, Zigoma was a darling of many a people in Malawi.
He was often seen at the back of most of his admirers especially after releasing an album with the late Ling’anga.
Newspapers used to call him the ‘Ndatherapano’ star courtesy to his famous song entitled ‘Ndatherapano’.
However the musicians started being missed by his fans both on radio and live performances due to unpopular songs which he produced afterwards.
Few years ago, Zigoma announced his turning to God and started singing Gospel songs only.
But soon after bouncing back to the music scene in the name of God, Zigoma was diagnosed with cancer.
Experts at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital could not handle the matter and recommended the case be referred abroad.
Musicians have been holding musical shows and a football match in support of Zigoma.
The sad news was in Blantyre, when recently there was a football match between musicians and Big Bullets Football Club that yielded about K400,000, according to reports; but he was only given K29,000.
“I can’t say much because people are helping me and all I can say is thank you, I accept what I have,” commented Zigoma when Zodiak Online sought his views on the money realized at Kamuzu stadium.
As the clock ticks, minutes are becoming hours, hours turning into days, days will make weeks, and the question is: Would Zigoma find the much wanted 1.6 Million Kwacha before weeks transform into months?—Zodiak Online
