Atupele Muluzi Out on Bail

Detained United Democratic Front presidential hopeful Atupele Muluzi has been released on police bail.

His lawyer Jai Banda confirmed that Mr. Muluzi was freed on bail Friday night around midnight.

“I can confirm that Mr. Atupele Muluzi has been released on police bail. He will appear in court on the 19th of April,” said Banda.

Currently, the young Muluzi is still at Mwaiwathu Hospital in Blantyre where he is receiving treatment for High Blood Pressure and Malaria.

He has been given bail after pressure from his supporters in the country’s major cities of Blantyre, Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Zomba.

Hundreds of people thronged Mwaiwathu Private Hospital in Blantyre to welcome him while chanting songs calling for his immediate release.

In Mzuzu UDF supporters have threatened to hold a vigil at the regional police headquarters if Mr. Muluzi is not freed

Such was also the case for his supporters in Balaka.

The development also comes as his father, the former president Dr. Bakili Muluzi is expected in the country today from South Africa.

He requested for some days from his doctors to attend to his son’s arrest.  - Zodiak Online

Raul, who is a criminal between Bingu and Atupele? how many houses have been torched by Bingu's boys? How many people has Bingu killed compared to what the supporters did? Is Atupele a criminal because he thinks malawioans are suffering with the Bingus's leadership where now fuel, forex, electricity is non existent? Is the arrest of Kasambara, Kapito, Atupele a sign that Bingu is governning the country well, If Bingu is governing well how come these very same people that he is arresting now were the same that supported him when he had a minority in Parliament, when he faced impeachment, when the budget could not be passed? Bingu is no longer a democrat if he ever was, too bad but time will soon cath up with him

Atupele is a criminal and deserved this. If all police stations were burnt as he masterminded in A24, wont that bring lawlessness. They have body guards whilst ordinary citizens rely on police services. Sons of the devil, go to hell
