President Joyce Banda admits taking a gamble with the new cabinet.
Malawi’s President Joyce Banda has admitted to have taken a gamble with her all inclusive new cabinet sworn in on Monday at the New State House in Lilongwe.
Speaking after the swearing in of the 33 member cabinet, President Banda said she has drawn her cabinet form various parties to help revive the country’s economy that has dwindled extensively in the last two years.
“Ladies and gentlemen, today I have taken a risk, a risk which has never been taken by anybody in the past. I have gone across parties and I have gone across Malawi. I mean what matters most are Malawians,” explained the country’s number one citizen.
The president told the ministers that she expects them to serve Malawians.
“I expect you honorable ministers to serve the people, to be servant of the people. Please run with me. The economy is a total mess but with God’s help we shall do it,” ordered the president.
Like the late president Mutharika during his first term of office, president Joyce Banda has asked the new ministers to report to her every month. She also asked for true advice.
The president asked the new Ministers to work for Malawians and not to enrich themselves.
She has warned to boot out any cabinet minister who will be involved in corruption.—Zodiak Online
