The Global Hope Mobilization Organization (GLOHOMO) has entered into partnership with Mikozi Network in an attempt to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

GLOHOMO Executive Director, Caleb Thole, says through the K15 million worth partnership, artists will be able to produce, record and promote music with COVID-19 messages at Mikozi Network.

He says the decision for the partnership came in after realizing that artists have been left out in the fight against the deadly global pandemic.

“Young people interact with older people and issues to do with alcohol and drug abuse may lead to young people being agents of community transmission.

“We are engaging Mikozi Network to help in information dissemination of COVID-19 messages. This partnership will see Mikozi Network managing two pilot projects to reach out to its audience which is more than four million at the moment through music. We aim to invest five million in working with local upcoming artists to raise awareness on COVID-19,” he said.

Mikozi Network Executive Director, Bright Chiligo, says they will use entertainment through their online platforms to disseminate the message.

“Mikozi reaches out to a large population of young people across the country. We are going to use Facebook, Instagram and website to make sure the message gets our audience across the country,” he said.

One of the artists to benefit from the partnership, Rita Kalonga, says the project is very important to put the pandemic to an end.

“My life as an artist has been affected greatly due to the pandemic. Artists rely on holding shows for a living but we are no longer holding shows because of social distance observance,” she said.

The partnership will last twelve months with possibility of renewal upon revision.
