The Mzuzu City Council and Grand Palace Hotel have partnered with gospel hip-hop artist Gwamba [real Duncan Zgambo] in a mega concert to be held at Mzuzu Stadium on 26th August 2023.

According to the three partners, the show by Gwamba is meant to promote tourism in the city of Mzuzu.

Speaking after announcing the partnership on Monday, Mzuzu City Mayor Desire Nyirenda said this a big opportunity for the city to promote its tourism sector while assisting to identify talent amongst the youth.

``The agreement covers various aspects. For example, we will embark on talent identification for musicians in the northern region to start with Mzuzu being the hub of the region,” explained Nyirenda.

He noted that Mzuzu has been lacking entertainment activities, and the initiative will help to provide platforms to various musicians in the region.

The agreement is under the burner Gwamba Unlimited, which among other things, aims to raise awareness about tourist destinations, culture, and artistic talent in Mzuzu city and all districts in the northern region.

In an interview, Gwamba said to promote the show and the city of Mzuzu, together with his team, they are going to spend a lot of time in the northern region building up partnerships with different companies and organizations ahead of the concert which will only have supporting artists from the region.

Explained Gwamba: ``We will partner with various artists in various circles, like culture and music. Those we think have potential; we will be rehearsing with them from now to August when we will hold the show.”

Grand Palace Hotel says it is making special efforts to offer high-quality hospitality during the period leading up to the concert and after.
