Young working Catholics have been urged to help financially families that are despair because of COVID-19.

Bishop Peter Musikuwa of Chikwawa Diocese says that there is need to provide adequate support to households especially orphans whose parents died of the pandemic.

The Bishop said during a Mission Sunday that Catholic Church gives an opportunity to Christians to pray and make monetary contribution for the spread of word of God.

"We therefore ask Church’s working class youth to contribute more so that the church can reach out to families that are in despair because of COVID 19," said Episcope Musikuwa.

He added that there is need to urgently support such households especially orphans whose parents died of corona virus.

The man of God also urged parents to motivate their children to understand the significance of Mission Sunday, for the growth of the church and spreading the Gospel.

"Children should start helping the church now for they are the church' future. If they grow with this spirit, they will be able to sustain the church and spreading the word of God," said he.

The Bishop also took time to encourage Christians to pray hard to God to wipe out COVID 19.

This year's Mission Sunday theme is 'Here I am o Lord, send me.'
