A 22-year-old man identified as Limbani Sani is in police custody in Mangochi on allegation that he killed a seven year old boy, Nazir George.

According to Mangochi Police Spokesperson, Sub Inspector Amina Tepani Daudi, the incident happened on June 24, 2022 at Chilomolo Village in the area of Traditional Authority Chowe and the suspect was arrested on Monday 28th June, 2022.

Tepani Daudi said what they have gathered from his guardians is that on the fateful date, George who was a Standard 2 learner at Makumba Primary School in the district after classes, left the house saying was going to M'dibwi Fishing Dock to play with friends.

She said a few hours later, the little boy is said to have been found lying dead in a pool of blood with a deep cut wound from the right eye to the ear in a bush near the said dock.

“It is believed that the minor was hit in the head with a big stick which was found beside him which had blood stains,” explained Tepani Daudi.

She said the suspect has already admitted to have committed the crime, however, is not revealing motives behind the killing of the child.

Meanwhile, Sani has been charged with murder which is contrary to Section 209 of the Penal Code and will appear before court after completion of paperwork, according to Tepani Daudi.

Sani hails from Steven Village in the same area of Traditional Authority Chowe in the District.
