After engaging all the concerned parties in a closed meeting on Saturday, director of chiefs in the ministry, Charles Makanga, briefly told Zodiak Online that the resolution will come out this week after briefing the superiors.

Officials from the Ministry engaged ward councilors, chiefs and council directors to sort out the alleged development issues which prompted councilors to demand the immediate transfer of some two directors this week.

Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of his fellow directors, director of planning and development, Morson Magombo, says they are happy that they have explained their version that development progress is interrelated where several offices are involved and believes councilors might had rushed to react.

"I think they had issues related to development projects, but I would say somehow they were misinformed because some of the issues that were targeted to planning were not supposed to be linked to. I am happy with the resolution being a public officer I know they are justified to have their decision, but I am also comfortable with what has happened," Magombo said.

Thyolo District Council Chairperson, George Matiya, says councilors will wait for the ministry's decision on whether to retain the officers or transfer them after weighing the concerns and explanations.

Matiya said: “They have taken our grievances as we out them on paper and they have promised to share notes with the minister then see the way forward. We will just be waiting from them on what resolution they would make whether to take away the officers or retain them."

Last week Tuesday, councilors ceremoniously sealed offices for director of planning and development, and that of public works including building supervisor accusing them of derailing projects under Governance to Enable Service Delivery (GESD) and District Development Fund (DDF).

Meanwhile, some councilors have also confided in us that in the meeting they updated the list of the council officers to go which included the District Commissioner and one procurement officer accusing them of being involved in derailing the development progress in the district.
