Balaka District Hospital Director of Health and Social Services, Dr Eugene Katenga Kaunda has conceded a challenge in Information Communication Technology - ICT equipment for data collection in health facilities.

Receiving a donation of the ICT equipment which is worth 11 million kwacha from DREAM which include 3 desktops computers, 9 laptops, UPS backup systems among others, the Director said the donation will go a long way in supporting laboratories and offices that need to use for data collection of various diseases not withstanding HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria which has been a challenge.

"Our partners in health area saw the need and the yawning gap to fill in as far as the ICT equipment is concerned in our facilities.

“This is what we need to do to curb the spread of the diseases and easy inventory and tracking of the same," said Katenga Kaunda.

Speaking during the handover ceremony of the donated equipment, DREAM Program - Bridge the gap Project Manager, Bruce Tambwali said his organization is there to close the gap in HIV/AIDS services.

"For easy transfer of data and safe keeping of data, the District Health Office needs to know and understand the welfare and on how HIV AIDS services and TB prevalence are faring," said Tambwali who promised continued support and collaboration between the said districts.
