A local organization based in Phalombe- Ufulu Wathu CBO, has underscored the need to support less privileged learners to ensure that they complete schooling in their respective areas.

The organization’s Programs Officer Symon Thipa, has told Online Zodiak on Tuesday that the research which the organization conducted in six Group Village Headmen under senior chief Nazombe revealed that most vulnerable learners are dropping out of school owing to lack of support.

Thipa said there is need to join hands to ensure that most vulnerable learners have access to quality education by supporting them.

He made the remarks when the organization supported 10 learners with school uniforms, 560 exercise books and 120 ball pens to some learners at Nazombe Primary School in Phalombe.

“As an organization we want to see less privileged learners excelling in their education by offering them with education support,” said Thipa.

Headteacher for Nazombe Primary School, Kennedy Chimwaza, has commended the organization for the support, describing it as timely.

Chimwaza said 83 learners dropped out of school during the last school session due to poverty and illnesses, calling on more stakeholders to swiftly intervene.

“We are urging organization and well-wishers to help in constructing toilets at the school since 20 toilets are not enough with the enrolment of 3800 learners,” said Chimwaza.

Firelight foundation is supporting Ufulu Wathu CBO with financial support to end child marriages in the organization’s catchment area.
