The UN Resident Coordinator says she is impressed with work being done by non-state actors under the spotlight initiative to rid the country of gender-based violence which has a negative bearing on development.

In a country where illiteracy levels are still on the higher side, World Vision Malawi is striving to make a difference through an output called 'Motivating learners participation in literacy' through literacy fairs like debates and spelling bee competition among others.

A local non governmental organization Shine on Malawi has launched a school feeding program in Mzalangwe educational zone in Mzimba to ensure an improved nutritional status among learners.

The Mzimba Agriculture office together with Mzuzu ADD communications department and the pesticides control board have embarked on an  awareness campaign to sensitize farmers ,sellers and consumers on the use of tomatoes applied with chemicals alleged to be harmful.

An upcoming local NGO, Muumoza Youth Organization - MUYO says lack of capacity among Health Advisory Committees - HACs  to play a governance and  oversight role in health centers is a major set back hampering efforts aimed at  halting drug theft in rural areas.

Center for Social Accountability and Transparency-CSAT has given the public appointments committee of parliament and the parliamentary monitoring committee 7 days to publicly disclose the names of public officers and members of Parliament who have defied the law by failing to declare their assets

Vice President Saulosi Chilima says government will complete the construction of all the unfinished projects in the country including the 6.7 billion kwacha Jenda - Edingeni road in Mzimba district.
