Britam Insurance Company has contributed K1.5 million towards the Insurance Institute of Malawi’s chartered dinner slated for Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Mt. Soche Hotel in Blantyre.

The Company’s Chief Executive Officer, Grant Mwenechanya, said on Friday during a dummy cheque presentation in Blantyre that the Institute is a very important component of insurance industry in the country.

“The umbrella body is the Insurance Association of Malawi. Under it, there is the Insurance Institute of Malawi which mainly takes care of the training and professionalism aspect of the upcoming students and employees.

“It is therefore a very important aspect that needs a lot of support from all the insurance companies and Britam saw it wise that it donates so that it assists the event that is coming up. This will help to come up with properly qualified students and employees in our various companies,” he said.

The dinner’s Organizing Committee Chairperson, Tamika Dzoole Mwale, said various members of the industry will be able to come together and reflect on the year that has gone and how well to move forward.

“Most importantly, the Institute is the branch of the industry that looks at training, so students that have completed various levels of education in the industry will also be awarded at this event,” she said.

She said the proceeds to be realized from the event will be used to train more people and improve the work within the sector.

Dr. Mathews Mtumbuka is expected to grace the occasion.
