NICO General has rewarded six employees who have served with the company for ten years.

Chief Financial Officer for the Group, Victoria Zigowa, says the initiative is to encourage members of staff and to also appreciate them.

“It is an initiative to appreciate our employees for the service that they have rendered to this company. It is very important considering that there are young ones who have just joined and obviously they would be able to be motivated with this initiative. It is also one way of encouraging staff to stay in one place,” she said.

Each member of staff has received K170, 000.

“The amount has been arrived at by looking at two bags of cement per year. So, since they have clocked ten years, we had to work out and essentially what they have received is actually 20 bags of cement,” she added.

One of the rewardees, Brian Chigamba, Nico Life Human Resources Manager, said the award “is one of those few achievements that one gets in a job.

“It is a way of appreciating the employees for their contribution to the business. Being one of the, I am very excited.

“Individual benefits of staying at one workplace for a long time is that you easily associate yourself with the achievements of the company. It is also possible that you can grow in the organization in different fields,” he said.
