NICO Celebrates 50th Anniversary
NICO Group says 50 years of its existence in the country have been of highs and lows.
Clarence Gama, Chief Executive Officer for Nico Technologies Ltd, says COVID-19 is one of the challenging moments encountered in the journey.
He was speaking on behalf of Vizenge Kumwenda, the Group’s Chief Executive Officer, during the celebration of 50th anniversary in Blantyre on Friday.
“We have come across some of our biggest lessons that we had to learn but also managed to achieve some of our biggest dreams. NICO has been a biggest player in the history of Malawi.
“If you go back to where Malawi is coming from, you cannot avoid talking about NICO. That alone explains where we are coming from as an organization,” Gama said.
Gama said NICO is the “very first company in Malawi to list on the Malawi Stock Exchange. That was when Malawi started listing companies on the Stock Exchange. That is one of key areas that we must remember.”
The celebration started with a parade from Ginnery Corner to Chibisa House which houses the Group in Blantyre followed by dinner in the evening.
