The First Capital Bank has launched a six-month retail banking campaign aimed at encouraging Malawians to embrace a saving culture by utilizing digital banking platforms.

The bank’s chief executive officer, Spiro Georgopoulos says although it is difficult for many to save the little cash they have, it is important for citizens to develop a saving spirit.

“We are excited today to be launching a remarkable campaign – The 5 Mita Ipite. This will see clients walk away with monthly prizes that include 1 million kwacha, smartphones, t-shirts and a grand prize of K5 million,” explained Georgopoulos.

He added that the bank remains committed to seeking opportunities to enhance overall services to clients which include provision of digital platforms to make banking services cheap and convenient.

“We are living in a digital era and the bank has made it so that people transact business through mobile apps,” he said.

The intervention comes when several financial institutions have embraced digital platforms in the wake of Covid 19 pandemic that forced governments to impose travel restrictions.

Gradually, the rural masses are also picking up on using their phones to make mobile cash transactions thereby reducing the burden of walking long distances to banks.
