Reunion Insurance Company Limited says it has pumped in K5 million to the Malawi Institute of Procurement and Supply (MIPS) to help in preparations for the 2022 conference which will be held at Sunbird Nkopola in Mangochi District.

The company’s technical manager responsible for Business Development and Claims Hastings Kapesa, says the upcoming conference slated for September 22 to 24, 2022 has potential to provide knowledge and skills among stakeholders.

“It is Reunion Insurance’s belief that the upcoming MIPS conference will provide an opportunity for various participants to ensure there is sustainability of credible procurement practices in the country by providing a platform for sharing knowledge, experiences, and networking,” said kapesa.

Speaking at Reunion Insurance headquarters at Reunion House Maselema in Blantyre during the sponsorship handover ceremony on Monday, Kapesa added that their company is committed to support different sectors economically as one way of demonstrating corporate social responsibility.

“Reunion Insurance will continue to work with different stakeholders in various sectors of the economy to fulfil its corporate social responsibility as enshrined in its business model,” Kapesa said.

MIPS Finance and Administration Officer, Mwizayekha Madise says the sponsorship has come at the right time as it will aid in their arrangements for the upcoming conference.

However, Madise has asked other companies to come in to support their arrangements for the summit.

“We urge other organisations to emulate what the insurance company has done,” Madise said.

This year’s conference will be held under the theme ‘Building resilience in procurement and supply chain management in Malawi’.
