Old Mutual on Tuesday donated K3 million toward the Institute of Insurance in Malawi (IIM)’s Lake Conference currently underway and will run until tomorrow in Mangochi.

The company’s pension service manager, Tawonga Manda, says they believe that what transpires at the conference is beneficial for the country.

“Old Mutual firmly believes in the power of collaboration; hence, our continued partnership with IIM. This year’s theme, ‘Building Resilience Through Insurance in Times of Economic Turbulence’ speaks volumes of the Institute’s commitment to building and improving our economy,” he said.

Manda added that “our commitment to nurturing the talents of our members and contributing to the advancement of the insurance sector is unwavering. However, we recognize that the journey towards progress requires collaboration, resources and a shared vision.”

IIM President, Hastings Kapesa, says such a donation at a time the country is going through economic challenges means a lot to them.

“You can even see my face that I am happy. We are happy. The money is not a small money. Everyone is struggling but Old Mutual saw it fit to come out and help. The reason is that they know pretty well that the issues that will be discussed are going to build resilience and help the country to grow,” he said.
