Allan Mtukula told Zodiak Online on Thursday morning that they went to get the injunction on 14 October at Blantyre High court but the District Commissioner allegedly refused to receive the injunction.

"The injunction was granted to us by Judge Jack Nriva. We took the injunction to Nsanje magistrate’s court but after taking it to the district commissioner’s office, the DC refused to receive it," complained Mtukula.

He says they plan to go to court again to complain on what happened.

"As I am talking to you now,  we are in a meeting for this injunction was obtained by four of us; Allan Mtukula, Khipala Kamphata, Mwasiya Phinifolo and Friday Black chirombo on grounds that procedures to appoint a right heir to the throne were violated," he explained.

Mtukula further alleged that when the court marshal from Nsanje magistrate court also went to serve Harrison Chimombo with the injunction, some overzealous family members chased the marshal away.

Nsanje District Commissioner, Douglas Moffat, told Zodiak that he was not served with any injunction; hence a decision to go ahead with the function.

"We are now at the venue you can also come to the function.  The event is on for I have not been served with any court injunction," said Moffat.

The Installation was later presided over by Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ben Phiri, who went on to warn chiefs against corruption and advising them to work with government of the day.

"I am very happy that family members here have been exemplary in avoiding chieftaincy wrangles," said Phiri.

Asked on how he went on to install a new chief when there is an injunction, Phiri said: “The DC and I have not been served with any injunction if that was the case then I could not be here.  So I don't know about that," said the minister.
