Police Arrest Health Worker for Theft

Police in Phalombe have arrested a 40 year old Health Surveillance Assistant (HSA) on suspicion that he stole hospital furniture, mattress and other items.

Phalombe Police Publicist, Innocent Moses, says the suspect, Alli Mahomed Juneau, was until his arrest working at Chitekesa Health Center in the district.

Moses said police officers from Chitekesa Police Unit busted on the suspect at Nayuma village in the district.

"He was found with a filling cabinet, four office chairs, mattress, a bin and two bed sheets whose value is not yet known," said Moses.

He said the suspect has since been charged with theft by servant, contrary to Section 283 of the Penal code.

Mahomed Juneja hails   from Garnet Village Traditional Authority Chekucheku in Neno District.
