Pregnant Women March in Kasungu

Scores of pregnant women awaiting to deliver at Kasungu District Hospital took to the streets this morning protesting what they claim is poor service at the district hospital.

The women on the bumpy march stormed the district council offices where they expected to be heard.

Leader of the concerned women, Marieta Ng'oma told Zodiak Online that the district hospital has become ‘a death trap’ as they are not properly attended to.

There is a high vacancy rate in the health sector in Malawi which is also affecting service delivery.

The action by the expectant mothers in Kasungu is coming at a time some unemployed nurses and clinicians are also staging a strike to force government recruit them permanently.
