Father to the boy, Doisi Makalani, says they have taken the issue to office of the ombudsman to establish the real cause of death and find out if the person who reportedly wore a green uniform is qualified to administer the vaccine.

"It is our wish to know what caused death of our first born son, Doisi Junior, following an injection of vaccine he received at Balaka District Hospital on Monday.

"Blood was oozing from the injected areas on both thighs until the baby died at the same hospital where we took him to on Tuesday," complained Makalani while sobbing.

Eastern region officer in the office of the ombudsman, Andrew Zabuya, confirmed receipt of the complaint, saying they are pursuing the matter.

Balaka District Health Office Spokesperson, Mercy Nyirenda, told Zodiak Online on Thursday that cause of death is still not yet established.

"The boy indeed died at our facility and we are investigating to find cause of death," said Nyirenda.
