While Chakwera, in his Christmas message, is urging Malawians to fight against oppression and underline the importance of justice for all citizens, he is more seen to be focused on the outcome of the presidential election case.

He is seen in an attempt to equate what happened during the birth of Jesus Christ and it’s biblical meaning to what could be happening on the political scene.

Meanwhile, in his message, President Peter Mutharika has appealed to Malawians to use Christmas celebrations to preach love and peace among one another.

He talks about knowledge of political leaders who are enticing faith denominations to mobilize their followers to cause anarchy in his reign.

But elsewhere, Chikwawa Catholic Diocese Bishop, Peter Musikuwa, has asked political leaders to take advantage of Christmas to unite and preach peace.

Musikuwa said this at St Micheals Cathedral Tuesday night that politicians need to end their differences considering that they all strive to serve the same Malawians.

Similar sentiments have been made by General Secretary Evangelical Association of Malawi, Reverend Francis Mkandawire, who says people should celebrate Christmas by reflecting on the role they can play in promoting peace in the country, especially this time when there are political differences.
