Dedza Accident Kills Two, Injures Nine

Two people have died while nine others have sustained various degrees of injuries after the vehicle they were traveling in overturned in Dedza Thursday.

Dedza assistant police spokesperson, Cassim Manda, says the injured and the dead were taken away from the scene by well wishers and police.
 
"The particulars of the two deceased are not yet know but the  nine victims have been admitted to Dedza district hospital," said Manda.
 
Dedza Assistant police Spokesperson Cassim Manda said the accident occurred Thursday on the M1 road between Dedza and Ntcheu.
 
Manda said the driver, Patrick Nkhata, was driving from Ntcheu heading towards Dedza with15 passengers on board.
 
Upon arrival at a place known as Mazanjala, the driver begun overtaking another motor vehicle but "he lost control of vehicle which went to the extreme verge of the road where it overturned".
 
Two male passengers whose particulars are not yet known were pronounced dead on arrival at Dedza District Hospital, while nine others have been admitted to the same facility with various degrees of injuries.
 
Among those injured is a girl learner at Malonje Primary School of Zomba identified as Martha Mandala who was apparently traveling alone.
 
Bodies of the deceased await collection from the mortuary at Dedza District Hospital.
 
The driver of the vehicle was treated as an outpatient. He comes from Kalimwina village in the area of Traditional Authority Tsabango in Lilongwe.
