The deputy border immigration Officer-in-Charge in Mwanza says some citizens aide illegal immigrants entry into Malawi some of who are dangerous and a risk to communities and the country.

The deputy immigration Officer-in-Charge, Fanny Masupayi, has since urged communities to desist from this behavior which could people's lives at avoidable risk.

Masupayi made the call over the weekend when the welfare group of immigration women comprising staff and spouses made available various items to the elderly in Msakambewa village located in the area of Senior Chief Kanduku in Mwanza district as part of the new year celebrations.
She said immigrants who enter the country using unchatterred routes are usually housed by villagers in the communities.
"It is dangerous to aid such illegal immigrants since you do not know their backgrounds, which is a risk to both the society and the country at large," said Masupayi.
Chairperson for Mwanza women welfare, Gertrude Kunselema, said the women put together resources throughout the year and planned for a charitable activity during the festive season.
"This time thought of reaching the elderly in this area and among other items we donated included food items, clothes and kitchen utensils," Kunselema said.
Village head man Msakambewa commended the women for the support and urged other well-wishers to emulate.
