DODMA Bails Out NkhataBay Destitutes
Innocent villagers from Nkhole under village Headwoman Kalonga are the most affected with houses and property torched, farm animals slaughtered boats and other fishing gear destroyed in the crossfire with neighboring Chingaga village over land.
The villagers have gone for 7 days without proper food and a blanket for the cold nights.
The Department of Disaster Management Affairs DoDMA has since provided the 52 households and 2 simple blankets which are not enough for some large families.
New Nkhata Bay Police Officer-In-Charge Assistant Commissioner McPherson Nthenda has assured the communities in the area of continued police presence.
“I would like to tell you that we will continue to provide security in this area. We will ensure that peace coupled with law and order is restored," added Nthenda.
About 20 people were arrested in connection to the bloody fight. They are yet to be charged.
