The two appeared in court Monday morning to be charged where defense lawyers asked the court for bail on the basis that their clients were arrested without proper investigations.

Mussa and Munthali are being accused of stealing HP Desktop computers and 3 generators at a cost of 11.5 million kwacha.

The items were initially purchased by MACRA as donations to various district information offices across the country, however, the two shared them for personal use.

State prosecutor Cecelia Zangazanga told the court that so far 1 desktop computer has been recovered from Munthalis house, with one generator found at Mussa's residence.

This according to Zangazanga is enough grounds for the two to be denied bail saying they might interfere with police investigations once released from custody.

However, PRM Nyimba has allowed the police to keep them in custody until 21st September, a week shy from the state's application of  two weeks, where the court will determine their fate. 

Mr. Gideon Munthali was arrested on Friday last week while Mr. Henry Mussa was arrested on Sunday. The two will be in remand for a week.
