Speaking on the sidelines of one of the court sessions at Kazomba, the department's District Coordinator Lovemore Kutani said this will also act as a civic education platform on laws regarding child marriages and teenage pregnancies.
"The court circuits are being held in places where the case was committed. This is so to allow them act as civic education platforms for communities to understand available laws that safeguard the rights of children," said Kutani.
He said the first wave of the program will have 10 cases.
Kutani made the remarks on the sidelines of a defilement case held at Kazomba in the area of Inkosi Mzikubola the home area of the suspect.
Mary Moyo from Amon Moyo village who attended the court circuit at Kazomba hailed the initiative saying it will help reduce cases of defilement which are often unreported.
"We welcome the program. For example here in villages we hear a lot issues where young girls are being defiled but they are often sorted in secret, but this will raise awareness on the issues,"said Moyo.
The court circuits sessions are being rolled out under Securing Children's Rights through Education and Protection (SCREP), with funding from NORAD through Save the Children Malawi.
