Attorney General, Dr. Chikosa Silungwe, says he will be submitting authority to proceed for Homeland Security minister, Richard Chimwendo-Banda, to sign for the extradition of Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary.

The authority to proceed will have been granted after the government of South Africa formally requested the government of Malawi for extradition of the two.

This now implies that when the minister signs for it, government will start extradition proceedings in court.

Last week South African government officially asked Malawi government to extradite Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary to answer fraud and money laundering offences in the rain ball nation.

The two were released on bail and escaped to Malawi.

Zodiak has been reliably informed that the Attorney General Dr. Chikosa Silungwe could soon be submitting authority to proceed for Homeland Security Minister Richard Chimwendo-Banda, to sign for the extradition of the two.

The Attorney General has confirmed to us this morning.

This means once the minister signs, government could go to court to start the extradition processes.

Lawyer for Bushiri, Wapona Kita however says they will cross the bridge when they get there.

“We cannot comment on that now.”

The recent development, could be in response to pressure from the South African Government for the government of Malawi to extradite the two.
