Report Your Employees to ACB - President Chakwera Told

The Human Rights Defenders Coalition-HRDC has asked President Lazarus Chakwera to report to the Anti-Corruption Bureau – ACB, all individuals who are using State House name in corrupt practices like unlawfully encroaching on public land.

HRDC National Chairperson, Gift Trapence says these Criminal Acts cannot be condoned even when they are committed by people surrounding the President.

``We want the President to disclose the identities of these people in question. Report them to ACB and prosecuted, because these conducts are corrupt,” said Trapence.

Trapence was reacting to a leaked State House internal MEMO signed by its Chief of Staff, Prince Kapondamgaga warning President Chakwera’s employees who are using State House name to abuse the system.

The MEMO is warning all President Chakwera’s employees against inappropriate conduct following reports that some of them are among other things, illegally acquiring goods like land and also soliciting money from business owners and parastatals using State House name.

State House Press Secretary, Anthony Kasunda has told Zodiak Online that, President Chakwera should not be drawn into this matter since the State House is already on it.

Kasunda said, “State House management is taking administrative actions on people in question.”

Some State House employees are being accused of encroaching on some piece of land in Lilongwe's Area 49 earmarked for public developments like the construction of a hospital and police unit.
