Man Shot by Police in Mzimba Over Suspected Indian Hemp Possession

A man named Emmanuel Kamanga is in severe pain after being shot in the leg by police at Luwerezi in Mzimba. The incident occurred last night when police suspected Kamanga of carrying Indian hemp on his motorcycle.

Eyewitnesses, who spoke to Zodiak on condition of anonymity, reported that Kamanga, who was not in possession of the alleged Indian hemp, was shot in the left thigh. He was initially taken to Nkhamenya Mission Hospital and later referred to Mzimba Hospital for further treatment.

This marks the second such incident in the area, following a previous event that led to a community riot and the subsequent damage of the Luwerezi police station.

Jenda police spokesperson Macfarlen Mseteka confirmed the incident but stated that the details surrounding the shooting are still unclear.
