Three children and their step-father died Tuesday in Ntcheu district while five others are admitted to the district hospital after they suddenly fell sick.

“They were vomiting and opening bowels. Community members rushed them to a health facility from where they were referred to the district hospital,” Ntcheu police deputy spokesperson, Rebecca Kwisongole said to Zodiak Online.

While at Kandeu Health Centre, where the nine were admitted on Monday, two children died. The other two died while at Muso 2 village in the area of T/A Ganya.

The five other people have been admitted to Ntcheu District Hospital where they are being treated. Police say they suspect no foul play in the deaths but are investigating.

Part of the investigations include laboratory tests of tissues taken from the dead to be conducted at Bwemba Central Laboratory in Lilongwe.

The deceased are Obedi Josofati, Orbit Josofati, Edison Josofati and Mike Jamali.

All hailed from Muso 2 village under Traditional Authority Ganya in Ntcheu.
