Gomani 5 Adds Voice on Coronavirus Preparedness
As the global community grapples with corona virus, Inkosi ya Makhosi Gomani 5 of Ntcheu has added a voice on the country's preparedness saying there is need to put across accurate information on the disease as a way of combating outbreak of the pandemic in the country.
Gomani told journalists Thursday at his headquarters at Nkosini in Lizulu that while government has already stepped up efforts on preparedness, security must also be tightened in border districts as they are porous.
"The pandemic is a global concern and some have taken advantage of creating fake news on social media platforms in regards to the spread of Coronavirus. Let us all exercise caution by disseminating accurate information on the same," he said.
Gomani added, "Our border districts are porous resulting to people moving freely. While government has stepped up efforts on preparedness, there is need to tighten security to combat outbreak of the pandemic."
The Maseko Ngoni Paramount Chief has since urged Malawians to be alert by following proper hygiene practices as a remedy to the disease.
In the meantime, Malawi has not officially registered a single case of Coronavirus since the first case was reported in Wuhan, China in December 2019.
Over 6,500 people have died and over 160,000 have tested positive to the disease globally.
