Barely a day after youths from the Malawi Congress Party and UTM Alliance held a press conference accusing President Peter Mutharika of violating human and constitutional rights, youths from Mutharika’s party – DPP say they are fed up with politics of castigation, targeting their party leaders.

Wednesday Morning the DPP youths also held a Press conference to express dismay at what they called baseless accusations made by the MCP/UTM youths.

In the Tuesday press conference, the MCP/UTM youths allege that they are aware of a rigging scheme that the DPP has put in place for the July 02 elections.

But DPP National Youth Director Dyton Mussah told reporters at the briefing, that MCP is wasting time attacking DPP leadership instead of sorting out alleged squabbles in their newly formed political alliance.

"MCP members have forgotten issues to do with their party and are instead focusing on the DPP - UDF alliance. We do not have plans to rig ", he said.

Added Mussa: “As we speak MCP and UTM know that their partnership will not work. There are 36 MCP Members of Parliament Dr. Saulos Chilima to take over the MCP Leadership."

At the briefing the UDF and DPP Youth Leaders also refuted reports that some party officials are collecting National Identity Cards from people for rigging in the election.

They said this is mere political propaganda by UTM and MCP.
