Minister Responsible, Dr. Ben Phiri said this Saturday in Ntcheu when he installed Edward Alexander Phambala as Traditional Authority Phambala the Fifth where he said the practice is denying Malawians social amenities.

The area has had no chief for six years after the death of the then traditional leader in 2014 as there were misunderstanding on the rightful heir to the throne.

"Chieftaincy wrangles are best resolved by chiefs at a village level and not in a court of law. As such, royal families must learn how to deal with such challenges on their own," Phiri said.

The minister then challenged chiefs to desist from indulging in corrupt practices which he said are detrimental to national development.

Taking his turn, Inkosi Ya Makhosi Gomani V asked the new chief to discharge his duties in accordance with the existing governing laws.

Edward Alexander Phambala 37 has taken over the thrown following the death of his father Alex Phambala who died in December 2014.
