ACB Halts Recruitment of Revenue Officers
Malawi’s anti-graft body, the Anti-Corruption Bureau has suspended recruitment of Revenue Officers at the Malawi Revenue Authority.
ACB has immediately halt the recruitment of the said positions at the revenue collecting body as investigations have commenced.
ACB Director Reyneck Matemba has issued the restriction and has told ZODIAK Online that investigations falling under the Corrupt Practices Act have been instituted.
“We received a complaint alleging that a number of irregularities have been associated with the recruitment process and we have opened an investigation to look into the matter,” he said.
“We have asked the MRA not to proceed with any recruitment process in this regard,” Matemba added.
Matemba has further warned the revenue collecting agency to comply with the order.
“MRA should not deal with any recruitment process or proceed with any offer of employment even those that have already been made,” he said.
MRA officials were not available to comment on the matter.
