US Embassy Set To Repatriate Citizens
The US Embassy in Malawi is set to start repatriating its citizens back home, due to the COVID-19 global outbreak which has not spared Malawi.
The repatriation exercise is set to start this Friday April 24th to only those willing to return.
In a communique, Public Affairs Officer at the US Embassy Douglas Johnson said the embassy is currently preparing an evacuation flight set for the said date.
“The flight will be travelling from Lilongwe to Dulles International Airport in the Washington, DC metro area via Addis Ababa and Dublin,” it reads.
According to the US Malawi embassy, the evacuation process will be in reimbursable basis hence urging its citizens to apply in good time.
The evacuation process will be executed at Kamuzu International airport in Lilongwe amid travel restrictions which Malawi and other countries adopted as a measure of preventing the spread of COVID- 19.
The United States is one of countries which have been hardly hit by the global pandemic.
