ADMARC spokesperson Agness Chikoko says the depots which have stopped buying maize from farmers after running out of money will soon be funded to resume the buying process as this is just normal.

However, the parliamentary committee on agriculture wants ADMARC to be funding it's depots with enough money to sustain buying of maize throughout the whole season saying vendors are taking advantage by offering cheaper prices whenever the depots have run out of money.

This follows reports that some depots in the country have stopped buying maize from farmers due to shortage of funds and the committee says it has already started receiving complaints from farmers on vendors offering cheaper prices.

Deputy Chairperson of the committee Ulemu Chilapondwa told Zodiak online that funding the depots in snippets is resulting into running out of funds within a short period and vendors are taking advantage of the gap which could lead to losses this season.

Recently, the committee also asked ADMARC to redefine some of it's operations in order to be effectively delivering.
