Chiefs Apologize to Nkhoma Synod Over Land Issues

Traditional authority Vusojere in Ntchisi has apologized to Nkhoma synod of the CCAP over land encroachment which forced the synod to recently close it's mission hospital in the area.

The traditional leader says his office has so far received several cases of expectant women delivering at home due to absence of a hospital in the area and has pleaded with the synod to reopen the hospital as soon as possible.

For several years, there have been land disputes between villages around Chinthembwe hospital and Nkhoma synod where villagers have been claiming ownership of the land where Nkhoma synod built it's hospital and church.

Vusojere has told Zodiak online that him along with some chiefs met Nkhoma synod officials on Wednesday to apologize on behalf of community members.

Nkhoma synod general secretary Vasco Kachipapa has acknowledged receiving a formal apology from the chiefs but says the mission hospital will be opened only when the chiefs will assure them to never encroach the land.

A few weeks ago, Villagers in the area of traditional authority Vusojere attacked church members during a church service and smashed the church windows including a pulpit and threatened to kill all workers at the hospital just force the synod to close all it's facilities in the area.
