“Corona virus is real and nobody should relax in following guidelines as prescribed by health personnel despite the district not registering any case,” says Mandele requesting that community leaders, such as chiefs, be in the forefront sensitizing their subjects on how to prevent further spread of the deadly disease.

He said “…exercise patriotism by coming forward to alert responsible bodies if you see anyone aiding illegal immigrants.

“By doing so, we will be able to control the spread of Covid-19”.

Meanwhile one of the organizations leading the fight against the spread of the virus-Story Workshop, has embarked on a door-to-door outreach campaign in the district.

So far through the initiative 43,000 households received covid-19 messages.

Story Workshop Executive Director, Kente Mphepo, says they are complimenting government efforts in the fight against the pandemic.

“We thought of intervening after noticing that there was information gap on Covid-19. We are sure communities have been sensitized now,” says Mphepo.

Mphepo has since commended villagers in T/A Kazyozyo for promoting the initiative where people are using locally available plastic bottles for hand-washing.
