Ntcheu NICE Public Trust, District Civic Education Officer, Alinafe Talimile told Zodiak Online Thursday on the sidelines of an electoral stakeholders meeting that a free and credible election cannot be achieved if their is political tension.

"Free and credible election cannot be achieved if their is political tension," she said.

She has since urged political parties taking part in the election to concentrate on issue based campaigns ahead of the fresh presidential poll.

Ntcheu Malawi Congress (MCP) District Chairman, Mlalazi Senzani says political violence are counterproductive to democracy.

His counterpart, Ntcheu DPP District Youth Director, Mailosi Litchapa agreed to ensure peace prevails during campaign period.

In the meantime, Parliament has set 23 June as date for the fresh presidential election.
