Thindwa told Zodiak Online that the two parties, DPP and UDF know better that fielding candidates in the constituencies will be an uphill task hence the quietness.
"It is not surprising that opposition DPP and UDF are not active towards November 10 by-elections since they have in mind on the outcome as they are no longer popular," said Thindwa.
He added that candidates are not even interested to represent the two parties on the ballot.
When contacted, DPP acting Secretary-General, Chimwemwe Chipungu referred us to party's Spokesperson Brown Mpinganjira who asked for more time before commenting on the matter.
However, DPP's alliance partner in the 23 June Fresh Presidential Poll, UDF through its Secretary-General, Kandi Padambo said his party will take part in the elections.
"We are ready to participate in the elections as we have already identified candidates. However, we are also weighing options of having representation in other constituencies," said Padambo.
Five parliamentary seats are up for grabs in the November 10, 2020 by-elections.
They are Mangochi West, Mangochi North-East, Phalombe North, Lilongwe North-West, and Karonga Central respectively.
