Court Slaps Man With 15 Yrs For Defilement in Ntcheu
A 42 year old Man in Ntcheu will spend the next fifteen years in cooler after Ntcheu Senior Resident Magistrate Court convicted him for defiling his 12 year old step daughter.
District Police Spokesperson, Hastings Chigalu told Zodiak Online that the convict, George James defiled the victim on 3rd August 2020 at Zidana Village, Inkosi Kwataine in the district.
"Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate, Yohane Munthali, the convict pleaded not guilty to defilement charges but state paraded witnesses to secure a conviction," he said.
In mitigation, James pleaded with court for leniency saying he was the first offender.
However, the state through police prosecutor, Brazio Kambalame asked court for a stiffer punishment citing high prevalence of such cases in the district.
Senior Resident Magistrate, Yohane Munthali concurred with the state hence sentenced the accused to 15 years to serve as a lesson.
George James hails from Chepa village, Traditional Authority Kwataine, Ntcheu
