Expert Backs Chakwera's Decision to Reshuffle MANEB Management

The mess caused by the Malawi National Examinations Board in its handling of the 2020 Malawi Schools Certificate of Education examinations could clearly get some heads rolling.

President Lazarus Chakwera wants the exams re-administered before February and that within a week from now, all those responsible for the fiasco identified and disciplined.

Education expert, Dr. Steve Sharra, has backed President Chakwera’s decision to reshuffle MANEB top management saying Malawians have lost trust in them.

He says it has become clear that the leaked examinations originated from Maneb as the material was in soft copies.

President of the Independent Schools Association, Joseph Patel, hails President Chakwera’s call for speedy re-administration of examination but urges strict control of the process this time around.

Over 150 thousand learners were sitting the MSCE examinations this year.

In his adhoc address to the nation this morning, President Chakwera did not rule out sabotage in how some public officers are conducting business and has since warned he will not sit back and watch this.

Quality education is one of the pre-election political pledges of the partners of the Tonse administration.
