Almost a month after stormy rains hit Ntcheu district rendering thousand of households homeless, a locally-based organization, Future for All (Future4All) has made available food items to 30 households of Dzoole village, Traditional Authority Kwataine (T/A) in the district.

Each of the 30 benefiting households has received a 50-kilogram bag of maize.

Future4All Program Director, Lemani Ngaiyaye told Zodiak Online that the support has been made to make sure the affected households recover from the recent disasters.

"As an organization, we are duty bounded to assist the affected households to recover from the disaster that struck the area besides building their resilience," he said.

However, Ngaiyaye has urged communities in the area to construct strong houses as well as plant more trees to combat the effects of future disasters.

Ntcheu District Disaster and Rehabilitation Officer, Jonathan Kapatsa said the relief items were timely.

Meanwhile, Village headman Dzoole has appealed for more support saying most of the affected households under his area of jurisdiction lost everything including food.

Last month, stormy rains left over 1, 200 households in Ntcheu homeless. Three people died while several others sustained injuries due to the disaster.
