It was all smiles in Kachigubu Village in TA Kalumo in Ntchisi on Friday when a blind woman, Christina Tchesa officially received a house from a well-wisher, Martha Mahewo, who plies her Victory Hardware business at Mponela in Dowa.

Tchesa said the house will go a long way in ensuring safety of her life and children.

"I am very happy for what Mahewo has done for me. I knew her when I was asking for alms at her shop in Mponela and may God bless her," Tchesa said.

Mahewo said "the woman used to come to my shop, Victory Hardware and General Suppliers at Mponela with her children begging and I decided to support the woman so that she can be sending her children to school."

Ntchisi District Commissioner, Maria Soko, has hailed Mahewo for the initiative and has asked other well-wishers to reach out to people with various disabilities with good accommodation so that they live a better and secure life.

"This is commendable and I therefore ask well-wishers to help people with conditions like this to make them feel secure," Soko said.

Mahewo has pumped in over K3 million for the construction of the house.
